Wedding day nerves are normal 😊 Here’s a few of my top tips on how to calm yourself and feel zen on your big day (and every day!).
Conscious breathing is the best tool in your kit for calming. Try this;
Inhale for a count of 4 then exhale for a count of 6 or more. Continue for a few minutes.
Lengthening the exhale triggers your parasympathetic system- the ‘rest and digest’ response.
Another very useful breathing technique is to breathe right down to your root chakra at the base of the spine, let your belly be soft and balloon with the inhale, as you exhale long and smoothe imagine your breathe going into the earth. I can be helpful to imagine your breath as a beautiful white golden light.
Feeling grounded in your body and to the earth creates an almost instant calm.
Place your feet on the ground (extra points if you’re outside!)
Place your hands on the crown of your head and breathe.
If you need a little more massage your feet.
Visualise roots growing from your feet deep into the earth (sounds kinda out there but really works!)
Hold a grounding crystal such as smokey quartz, shungite or black tourmaline 💎 You could keep a small piece in your bra throughout the day- I’ve always got a piece of comforting rose quartz in mine!
Soothe your soul with grounding frankincense, Amber, sandalwood, vetiver, ylang ylang (and so many more!)
Dilute a few drops of your favourite scents with water and put in a glass spray bottle and spritz your pillow, room and yourself 💕
Pop a couple of drops in your bath and luxuriate before getting your hair and make up done. ⠀⠀
Wedding mornings can get quite crazy, a lot of people in one space, hair and make up, suppliers like me popping in with flowers, bridesmaids, relatives, photographers, videographers- the list goes on so it’s super important to carve out a little time alone to cultivate some inner tranquillity.
Starting the day with a grounding meditation (you can find lots on youtube here )
Journal- just write whatever is in your head let it all flow out onto the page.
Have a luxurious bath.
Take time out in the bathroom, you could ground your feel on the floor and lengthen your exhale for a few minutes.
If you can take a little time in nature that will work wonders too.
